I feel lucky

It's been almost 2 years and I feel so fortunate for whatever movement I have in my face (I feel I am doing pretty darn good) and extremely lucky to be able to blink my eye. The doctors wanted to put a gold weight in my eyelid to help me blink but I wanted to wait. What a struggle to blink - it took allot of conscious thought and focus to get the lid to move and finally after 5 months it did. I am starting to get my smile back, don't drool as much, my eye lashes are going up again, I don't have pain in my face - I feel very lucky. At this point if you met me you might not even know that much is wrong.

  1. I wish you all the luck in the world to overcome these health problems. I work at for a pharmacy and I see a several people with Bells Palsy - it's such a slow thing to recover from but it sounds like you're doing great with that. I hope you do well with the Lymes, too.

  2. Hi Deb

Thank you for your comment on my blog. One shocking thing I found out is that 60 % of Bells patients actually have Lymes disease and since most Lymes tests are not very good they give mostly false negatives.

If you run into other Bells Patients please suggest to them to get a really good Lymes test. It took me around 15 months before I found the right lab for the most accurate testing results. I am sure that there must be another good lab on the East Coast but the test has to be extensive it is not cheap and not the three day quickie test. Especially since they put most Bells patients on Steroids and Antiviral meds which will give a false negative results.

The lab I finally went to was Igenex http://igenex.com/ the test kit and shipping is free, the patient needs doctors order for a blood draw and for the results to be faxed back to. I would hope that perhaps I can help someone else overcome some of the obstacles I have had in obtaining a correct diagnosis.
    Sincerely
    Birgit
